U.S. Rep. Burgess Owens has announced that he will not seek reelection after a redistricting shakeup left Utah's four Republican representatives to vie for three U.S. House seats this fall. Democrats have a high likelihood of flipping one of Utah’s four seats under a new congressional map adopted by a state judge last year. Owens sued to block the map but federal judges rejected his bid. Owens said he will finish out his current term then step away from elected office. The looming departure of the 74-year-old congressman clears the way for Utah's other three House Republicans to run without having to battle another incumbent.
