Christina Aguilera’s Daughter Summer Doesn’t Like Her Mom’s Makeup — But It’s for the Sweetest Reason
Some kids love playing in their mom’s makeup bag, but not Christina Aguilera’s daughter Summer. In fact, the 10-year-old doesn’t even want her mom to wear her own makeup! The “Beautiful” singer just admitted that her pre-teen doesn’t like her makeup, and the reason why will warm your heart.
Aguilera, who shares Summer with fiancé Matt Rutler, explained that summer prefers her mom in mom mode as opposed to rockstar mode. “So I’m done shooting, Summer’s like, ‘Can you take that off now? I just want to be cozy,’” Aguilera said on a recent appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, per PEOPLE. “She just loves my freckles; she loves to see them and asks if she’s going to have freckles one day. She’s the number one mama fan!”
Aww, how sweet is that? I love how Summer loves her mom’s natural beauty and wants to be just like her in that way. Kids really do bring out the best in us, don’t they?
During the appearance, Aguilera also praised Summer’s artistic side. “She’s such an artist, she paints, she draws, she makes beautiful masks, and she’s just so creative, but she’s definitely her own thing,” Aguilera said. “And I never want to push anything on my kids, whatever they’re passionate about, I’m there to support it, but she has taken an interest in acting, so she’s had a few lessons.”
The “Genie in a Bottle” singer, who is also mom to 17-year-old Max with ex-husband Jordan Bratman, has been open with her daughter about self-confidence and beauty for years. In a 2021 interview with Health, Aguilera said, “I am really careful if my daughter is there when I am doing photo shoots. I want to make sure that when she sees Mommy in hair and makeup that she realizes that’s not what’s important.”
“If she needs my attention, I stop everything and look into her eyes and listen to her,” she continued. “I want to make sure she understands that this is part of Mommy’s work but that it’s what I create that matters more. There’s no right or wrong way when it comes to my kids. I just really try to encourage them to be their own selves.”
It sounds like Aguilera’s lesson has soaked in with Summer, and we love it!
