Why Jennifer Aniston Is Happier Leaving the ‘Fireworks’ of Her Marriages to Brad Pitt & Justin Theroux in the Past
Jennifer Aniston is ending her 2025 on a note of happiness in her relationship with Jim Curtis, and it’s a far cry from her two marriages to Brad Pitt and Justin Theroux.
The Friends star’s inner circle is leaning into how “connected” Aniston and Curtis are, and how much joy he brings to her life. It’s hard for them not to compare the differences when lined up against her exes, who brought a much different dynamic to her life. “A lot of her past relationships have had fireworks,” an insider told Us Weekly. “This is quiet.”
Even though Pitt and Aniston have maintained a casual friendship over the years, she endured a Hollywood love triangle for the ages when he took off with his Mr. & Mrs. Smith co-star, Angelina Jolie, in 2005. Her friend Kristen Hahn described the situation to Vanity Fair in September 2005, “This woman is basically having a root canal without anesthesia, but she’s really trying not to numb the pain or shove it under the rug.”
Her second marriage to Theroux was more low-key, but there were constant reports that Aniston’s friends weren’t thrilled with his personality.
“Jen’s friends think Justin is aloof,” a source told OK! Magazine in June 2014. “They say that he’s never made an attempt to get to know them, and they think he has zero personality.” He was described as “the coldest man Jen’s ever dated” and rather self-centered. His world is the only one he cares about—he’s never really embraced Jen’s world, and it’s caused a huge strain on her friendships, the insider added.
With Curtis, The Morning Show star’s pals can’t stop raving about him and how much he adds to her life without trying to steal the limelight. “Jim blends in seamlessly. He’s really social and outgoing. Jen can bring him anywhere, and it’s easy. They’ve become one big, happy group,” the Us Weekly source noted. “Everyone who knows Jen is so happy for her.”
Aniston was married to Pitt from 2000 to 2005, and Theroux from 2015 to 2018.
