Sophie Turner Confesses She Has ‘Forever’ Mom Guilt Whenever She Is Away from Her Daughters with ex Joe Jonas
Despite being a dedicated mom to daughters Willa, 5, and Delphine, 3, with ex Joe Jonas, Sophie Turner has mom guilt like many other moms. The Game of Thrones star revealed that she is “forever” feeling bad about being away from her little girls in a raw new interview and her confession has us feeling so seen.
In a new cover interview with Net-a-Porter, Turner admitted, “The mum guilt is there forever.”
“I work all week and then, on the weekends, I’ll spend all day with my kids each day,” Turner continued. “But if I go out for lunch with a friend, I will run back home because my heart is sinking that I’ve left them.”
Not that she’s going out with friends (or anyone else for that matter) often. “I mean, I haven’t seen my friends or gone on a date in weeks, months!” the Steal actress said. “I just sack off parts of my life sometimes. I only have the capacity for work and family right now. But I’m working on it. I’ll get there.”
As a mom of three, I totally get where Turner is coming from. It’s hard to find the balance between working and being there for our kids, even if we see our kids all the time. We always feel like we aren’t doing enough or spending enough time with our kids, and it’s OK to give ourselves a little grace. Everything isn’t going to be a perfect balance all the time, and that’s OK. Just like Turner, we can keep working on prioritizing what works for our families too.
One thing that helps her get through it? Picturing how she’s teaching her girls to follow their own passions and work hard.
“In order to be a great role model for them, I have to have a passion for myself,” Turner explained. “I love that they see me going out to work every day and working my arse off.” Yes, girl!
Turner and Jonas were married from 2019 to 2023. Despite their initial messy custody battle, they seem to have worked things out with co-parenting. In May, the Jonas Brothers singer even praised the way Turner parents their daughters. “I have a beautiful coparenting relationship that I’m really grateful for,” he said in an interview with motivational speaker Jay Shetty, per Daily Mail. “Having an incredible mom, Sophie, for those girls is like a dream come true.”
“As young girls, looking up to great women is what I want for them,” he continued. “I think what values I want for them are to be open-minded and have a big heart, be able to walk into any room and feel confidence and know that they can do literally anything they want.”
In her interview with Porter, Turner revealed that her daughters have already started to follow in her footsteps with acting. “They love making up plays. I’ve got the joy and the childlikeness of it back, which is so nice,” Turner said. “[Although] they still want to play Disney princesses, where the prince comes and kisses them on the cheek. And I’m like, ‘No, YOU can save the prince!’”
And Turner is still learning valuable life lessons for herself as well. Like, “my capability to beat a bitch up if they come near my child,” she jokingly said. Getting serious, Turner added, “If you have these overwhelming emotions, how do you get it out? That’s something I’ve never really been able to figure out how to do for myself. So, I’m teaching my kids and we’re trying different things, and then it’s like they’re teaching me how to self-soothe or to process an emotion.”
