How Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce’s Alleged ‘First Real Test’ as a Couple Is Affecting Their Wedding Plans

When Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce got together, they were both on top of the world, with Swift basking in the glow of her Eras tour and Kelce’s continuous wins for his team, the Kansas City Chiefs. Now, the Chiefs have had a rough streak, and Swift is taking time away from the spotlight after her massive tour. And apparently, because of the Chiefs’ losses and the possibility of retirement for Kelce, their relationship has been put to the test, and is allegedly affecting their wedding plans.

More or less, the wedding discussions are on pause as he navigates this. Insiders claim this is their “first real test” ahead of his retirement decision.

“Taylor is trying to put him in a better mood by spending more time with him and not bombarding him with wedding plans,” the insider said to DailyMail. “She would want him to focus on [the wedding] after he makes his career decision because she knows how important that is to him.”

It’s all very tight-lipped already, and with this alleged pause, fans may have to wait a bit longer for any details.

For those who don’t know, Kelce and Swift have been dating since July 2023, but didn’t make their romance known until months later, when Swift arrived at one of his games. (Kelce even talked about his crush on her on his podcast with his brother months prior to this.)

Then, Swift and Kelce announced their engagement news on Aug. 26 2025. “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married ????” Swift captioned a post, revealing several pictures from the intimate moment surrounded by flowers in their backyard garden.
