Insiders Allege Which of Catherine O’Hara’s Pals Knew ‘What Was Coming’ Before Shock Death at 71
As many know by now, the legendary actress, Catherine O’Hara, known for her roles in Schitt’s Creek, Home Alone, Beetlejuice, and more, has tragically passed away at the age of 71 after a brief illness. While fans and friends alike don’t know what this illness is, it’s safe to say it has shocked everyone to their core. In fact, insiders allege that even O’Hara and her husband Bo Welch’s inner circle had no idea about her illness.
Insiders told DailyMail about how hard the news is hitting her friends, especially her inner circle who seemingly had no idea about any condition she had. They said, “Many of those closest to O’Hara were kept in the dark about her condition during her final days.”
Plus, the “complete shock” was even harder because mere weeks prior to her death, she was seen out at SUR Restaurant in West Hollywood, looking like she was “in great spirits.” They added, “As quickly as she was seen, she left, but she looked healthy for a 71-year-old.”
The only person who may have known “what was coming” was her husband Welch.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Welch, and their two sons, Matthew, 31, and Luke, 29.
O’Hara kept her family out of the spotlight, especially when they were kids. She even spoke about how motherhood was the biggest priority to her, saying to Julia Louis-Dreyfus in a 2024 episode of her Wiser Than Me podcast, “In deciding what work I might get involved in for my whole working life, my family’s always come first.”
She added, “I have two sons, and when they were babies, I thought, ‘What’s the point?’ What’s the point in having children if I’m not going to be with them, so that was always number one consideration and always will be.”
