Justin Trudeau's Son Dishes On Katy Perry Romance After Ex Sophie Trudeau Said It 'Triggers' Her
Justin Trudeau’s son, Xavier, opened up about his bond with his dad’s girlfriend, Katy Perry, weeks after his mom shared her thoughts on the former Canadian Prime Minister’s high-profile romance.
18-year-old Xavier, who is the oldest of Trudeau’s three children with ex-wife Sophie Grégoire, appeared in a video posted by social media influencer G Hobs. When asked about Perry, who his dad started dating in July 2025, Xavier said, “She’s cool, she’s nice. We’ve talked for hours, talking about my music. She gave me advice and next steps for me and stuff.”
Xavier, who is an older brother to Trudeau and Grégoire’s 17-year-old daughter Ella-Grace and 11-year-old son Hadrien, launched his R&B singing career in 2025 under the stage name, Xav.
Xavier was also asked if he talked to Perry about “going on the moon.” He responded, “We didn’t talk about that. Did she even go on the moon?” Perry participated in a 2025 sub-orbital Blue Origin flight with celebrities including Gayle King and Lauren Sanchez.
Xavier’s comments come months after his mom talked about navigating the public attention on Perry and Trudeau’s romance during a November appearance on the Arlene Is Alone podcast. “We’re human beings and stuff affects us. Normal. How you react to stuff is your decision. So I choose to try to listen to the music instead of the noise,” she said.
“I’m very aware that a lot of public stuff out there can be triggers. Right, we’re humans,” she continued. “What I do with it is my decision. The woman I want to become through this is my decision.”
“Does that mean I don’t have emotions? That I don’t cry, scream, laugh? No. Especially that I’m a super tender heart, right? But it’s my decision after that, between the emotion and the reaction,” she added.
Grégoire and Trudeau announced their separation after 18 years of marriage in 2023.
