Re: Potential attendances.
BlueNoseinFramptonBlueNoseinFramptonDESdavenportsI am always quoting thjese figures, we could get them back with some sustained success & alterations to Stans!Just looked at our attendances back in season 72-73 on world football.net
4th best in the top flight with an average of 36,647 for the season. That same year Spurs averaged 32k as did Man city. Chelsea only 29k !
How times change.
That season we didnt have match day crowd under4 30K! And our victories over Man U & Livepool still live on in my memory!
KRO
Des is that the one where we beat Liverpool 3-2 Gordon Taylor getting the winner!
Just checked nope not that one.
Whats interesting the gate at home to Liverpoool 72/3 season was 48k but following season only 26K
There's another one! I was a season ticket holder but turned up late for that game, arrived about 2:15, and couldn't get in. They'd closed the turnstiles because the 52,500 capacity ground was full. There was about 10,000 people outside, trying to find a way in. You couldn't even get near to the Cattell Road turnstiles because of all the people in the way, hanging around. Imagine our surprise when the '...official attendance...' of 48,000 was announced...
