Re: Bolton v Salford
Rab C NesbittOn what basis do you think they will be able to do what you claim?
Salford: the money and the fact that they will probably benefit from the demise of other local clubs up in Greater Manchester. Bury gone, Oldham all but gone, Macclesfield gone. Even Bolton being in the doldrums is a massive help. The whole Class of 92 stuff attracts a lot of attention as well. They could easily establish themselves in the upper end of League One and from there tread water in the Championship, assuming the financial backing stays in place.
Milton Keynes Dons: simple biology. From when they first came to be in 2004 they had a lot of kids at games whereas the parents obviously had other allegiences and were simply taking their kids along to see some games 'cos it was local. Those kids will have stayed MK Dons fans though, and they are all grown up and starting to have their own kids now who will also become Dons fans which will lead to their support growing exponentially. Throw in the fact that they have a state of the art stadium already and are based in the fastest growing city in the UK and I think they will sooner or later shoot right up the league ladder. If I was a business person looking to buy a club that club would tick all the boxes.
Bristol Rovers: a proper sleeping giant in lower league terms. Great support, big city - once they sort the ground situation out they will soar.
