Re: Phil Summerill
BluesharkGreat respect to Phil. One of our own from Erdington. Always had time for a chat and autograph when I cycled to Damson Lane to watch Blues train in the late sixties. A top wide attacker in todays terms, who certainly knew where the goal was.
I remember the 17 second goal against Watford like it was yesterday ( I can’t remember what I had for breakfast these days). Blues kicked off and Pickering played it back to Robinson who hoofed it into Watford territory. Watford won possession and played through their midfield into Blues half but I think Vincent won a tackle and Bridges crossed for Pickering to win a header and Phil met it first time to score.
Great times.
From Phil
Steve I have a feeling that the goal time was less than 17 seconds more like 8 or 12 seconds! Will have a look through my memorabilia and let you know.
