Re: Parking in Brum
Sheep2My dad's car was stolen from Lower Dartmouth Street, just above Bainsy's on Friday night some time between 7.15 and 10.15 pm. Just some broken glass in the space. It wasn't in front of houses.
My brother gave them a lift home. They didn't report it until they got home which I think was a mistake - there's just a chance it was still very close and would have been spotted immediately. Also gven the number of police in the area someone might have been sent there.
We've been parking round there and other places for 30+ years without any incident, though we have seen a few cars that have been broken in to. It's off-putting. I know loads of people park there, but you want to be safe.
I think it might have been that the car has keyless entry and and ignition. Someone may have been able to scan and fake the frequency.
Anyway this police report....
He phoned 101, just after 11pm, but it wasn't answered by WMP and it suggested filling in the report online which he did.
As of this morning the report still hasn't been viewed by anyone at WM and no crime number has been issued. It's not clear 59 hours after it was reported that it has been added to the list of stolen cars.
This seems pretty appalling. i wasn't expecting anything to be done on Friday night, but it should have been looked at as a reported crime on Saturday. There has been no call or anything
It also means that the claim with the insurers remains on hold. They can't deal with it without a crime number.
They dont have the resources to investigate it im afraid, its a similar story with most crime these days
