Now managing the newly promoted to the National Conference South Shields Mariners FC, a club very much on the rise. Between the wars were a second division side, post war have had troubled periods including having the club effectively stolen off them by property speculators- now there’s a ‘community ownership’ model in place (the football club Gateshead were originally South Shields FC).
Remarkable rise over the last few years under a great Chairman who has done a lot for the club. Definitely scope for a league side there as Shields and surrounding towns are sizeable. I guess not every club has a TV series behind it but the story has just as much merit, probably more.
