Woman fatally struck by Red Line train at Berwyn station
Red Line and Purple Line trains are on the move again but bypassing the Berwyn station after a woman was hit and killed by a train there on Wednesday morning in Edgewater.
Paramedics responded to the incident at the Berwyn station, 1119 W. Berwyn St., around 6:55 a.m. and found the woman hit, Chicago Fire Department officials said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Trains were on the move as of 8:40 a.m. but were bypassing the Berwyn station. Earlier, service was been suspended on the Red and Purple Lines between the Belmont and Berwyn stations, a CTA alert said.
CTA said crews were "working to restore normal operations as quickly as possible."
A bus shuttle was operating between the Howard and Belmont stations, CTA said.
