Katie Couric Has Some Thoughts About Lauren Sánchez’s Wedding Dress
Congrats to the people of Venice: Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding is finally over. For four days, the couple and their many celebrity acquaintances descended on the city for a weekend of dancing, tiramisu, and avoiding protesters. On Friday, amid all the matrimonial festivities, Sánchez debuted her custom Dolce & Gabbana wedding dress on the digital cover of Vogue. If the Instagram comments are any indication, it wasn’t such a hit with Vogue readers. “She always looks like she’s wearing Shein,” one of the top comments said.
Another person who apparently didn’t dig Sánchez’s bridal look: Katie Couric. After Jack Schlossberg, of all people, shared the Vogue cover on his own Instagram on Friday, Couric reportedly wrote in a since-deleted comment, “Welcome to the eighties — when big hair and conspicuous consumption ruled. Apparently tacky is back.”
Couric isn’t the only celebrity less than impressed with the billionaire newlyweds’ $50 million nuptials. In a speech Saturday night for her nonprofit, Charlize Theron said, “I think we might be the only people who did not get an invite to the Bezos wedding,” per the Hollywood Reporter. “But that’s okay, because they suck and we’re cool.” Olivia Munn — who also had some choice words about Sánchez’s intergalactic girls’ trip — took a subtle swipe at the couple on Saturday: Munn responded to Mia Farrow’s Instagram post, which praised Bezos’s ex, MacKenzie Scott, for donating billions to charity. “Truly incredible,” Munn commented.
Meanwhile, Rosie O’Donnell got her feelings out in a poem she published on Substack, which questioned why Oprah would attend and extolled Bezos’s ex as “salt of the earth Mackenzie.” I guess they won’t be sending gifts.
