Selena Gomez Addressed Those Hailey Bieber Feud Rumors
It looks like the feud rumors between Hailey Bieber and Selena Gomez aren’t going anywhere. Last week, the Rhode founder was interviewed for The Wall Street Journal’s cover story about her brand’s $1 billion acquisition and entrance into Sephora, and apparently, fans seem to think she was taking a dig at Gomez. Is it just me, or do you also have déjà vu?
During the interview, Bieber was asked if she felt worried about being compared to Gomez’s Rare Beauty. Although she declined to respond, she later appeared to allude to the question. “It’s always annoying being pitted against other people. I didn’t ask for that,” she said. “When people want to see you a certain way and they’ve made up a story about you in their minds, it’s not up to you to change that.”
Bieber was then asked if she felt competitive of the hundreds of other brands in Sephora stores. “I think there is space for everybody,” she said, adding that she’s most competitive with herself. “I don’t feel competitive with people that I’m not inspired by,” Bieber said. This caused some fans to raise their eyebrows at the founder, but sources “connected” to Bieber told TMZ that she was not shading Gomez, adding, “What she said was in reference to other skincare brands — not a particular person.”
Gomez also seemingly responded to Bieber’s comments in a now-deleted Instagram Story, writing, “Just leave the girl alone. She can say whatever she wants. Doesn’t affect my life whatsoever. It’s just about relevance not intelligence. Be kind. All brands inspire me. There is room for everyone. And hopefully we can all stop,” according to “Page Six.”
Well, there you have it. Another case of words being twisted and the internet running free with them. Maybe we can all listen to Gomez and finally stop now?
