Charlie Puth Does Not Like Being Neighbors With SpaceX
Most parents-to-be will tell you that navigating pregnancy for the first time is challenging, and that’s without sonic booms coming from Elon Musk’s spaceships. Donald Trump’s former little-bitch-in-chief has apparently been launching a bunch of SpaceX rockets out of the Vandenberg Space Force Base in Santa Barbara County, near where soon-to-be first-time dad Charlie Puth and his pregnant wife, Brooke, live. In the early hours of Wednesday morning, the singer posted a complaint to X, the social platform very loosely governed by Musk and people who earnestly use Grok.
Hi @elonmusk …these sonic booms have gotten progressively louder since they started launching the rockets in Santa Barbara. This one at 3am today felt like 150-160 dB, violently shook our whole house, and really frightened my pregnant wife. I hope they do not get louder :/

“Hi @elonmusk … these sonic booms have gotten progressively louder since they started launching the rockets in Santa Barbara,” Puth wrote. “This one at 3am today felt like 150–160 dB, violently shook our whole house, and really frightened my pregnant wife. I hope they do not get louder :/”
Anytime a straight man invokes the well-being of his pregnant wife, you know he means business. It certainly helps that the Puth family isn’t alone in their desperation: Residents near SpaceX launch sites in California and Florida have been complaining about the sound pollution for years. In April, Floridian residents told local news station KXXV that the noise from the launches were “the worst it’s ever been.” Per the SpaceX website, Musk & Co. have launched 160 Falcon 9 rockets in the U.S. this year alone — two dozen more than were completed in 2024. And if you’re wondering what “150–160 db” sounds like, Brigham Young University physicist Kent Gee told CNN last year it’s like “being a few feet away from a gunshot without hearing protection.”
Musk hasn’t yet responded to Puth’s plea, but we must protect his baby’s ears at all cost. There’s simply too much potential for musical genius at play. Maybe this is something Puth’s two biggest fans, Taylor Swift and Matty Healy, could take up with Musk? I’m sure he’d be totally normal about it.
