Pro-Paxton PAC releases ad touting his response to Texas redistricting battle

The Lone Star Liberty PAC, a group supporting Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s (R) Senate run, rolled out an ad touting Paxton’s role in the state’s redistricting battle on Friday. 

The digital spot, titled "Ken Paxton puts Democrats on notice in Texas redistricting fight," is a compilation of mainstream media coverage of the state’s redistricting saga and Paxton’s response, and conservative media figures praising the state attorney general. It wraps with a photograph of Paxton posing with President Trump, who has yet to endorse in Paxton’s primary battle against Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas). 

The Hill was the first outlet to view the ad. 

The spot comes after Cornyn announced on Thursday that FBI Director Kash Patel approved his request to aid state and local law enforcement in locating the Texas Democrats who left the state with the goal of stalling a partisan redistricting effort.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) said in a post on X on Thursday that the FBI was “tracking down” the Democratic lawmakers. 

Paxton initially criticized Cornyn’s call for the FBI to intervene on Steve Bannon’s “War Room” podcast on Tuesday, saying it was “purely a state issue.” 

However, Paxton later said in a statement to The Hill that he was open to the FBI getting involved in the redistricting battle. 

“I’m in full support of using every possible method to secure a quorum and hold lawless Democrat legislators accountable for abandoning Texans, including involving federal authorities and the FBI,” Paxton said. 

Paxton announced Tuesday he would seek judicial orders “declaring that runaway Democrats who fail to appear by the Speaker’s deadline have vacated their office.” 

“The people of Texas elected lawmakers, not jet-setting runaways looking for headlines. If you don’t show up to work, you get fired,” Paxton said.

Additionally, Paxton announced that he was investigating whether former Rep. Beto O’Rourke’s (D-Texas) political group is breaking laws by allegedly “bankrolling” the state Democratic lawmakers out-of-state travel.
