Troy Parrott’s former manager reveals the truth about the promising youngster
Tottenham Hotspur have a number of promising youngsters in their ranks at the moment, something the Spurs faithful would have seen in yesterday’s test event.
Spurs took on Southampton in an under 18s test event at the new stadium, beating the famously impressive Saints academy 3-1.
The side included first team regular Oliver Skipp within its ranks, and young Troy Parrott was also in the matchday squad.
Parrott is one many fans will have their eyes on, as he is tipped to be one of the next best things in Irish football.
The youngster picked up the U15 Player of the Year last year at the FAI International Awards, as well as the U16 award this year.

He has also regularly trained with the Spurs first team this season, and travelled as the 19th man on more than one occasion.
His old Ireland U17 manager Collin O’Brien has now revealed all about the exciting prospect.
O’Brien said (The42): “I am absolutely delighted for him. Progression is what it’s all about. I’ve been asked a lot about his availability for us [for this year’s U17 Euros] and there is almost a sense of disappointment in people’s voice where we just have to accept that the boy has progressed to a higher age group already.
“Troy knows the platform he got last season and what it did for him. In the next couple of years if someone is running out at the Aviva with the senior team having played with our underage teams, that’s the most satisfaction me and my staff will get.
“Personally I’ve always just liked his mentality. He’s got a good mix of talent, determination and work rate. He’s one of these attacking players that does his defending duties as well. You nearly have to get him to curb his defending a little bit, but that’s fine. You’d rather that than the other way around.
“He just has a good mentality and he can back that up because Troy has that bit of streetwise-ness about him on the pitch, which a lot of players might not have naturally. He still has plenty of things to learn in the game. He is still progressing nicely at Tottenham and that’s good to see. Hopefully he will move on even further.
“There’s just a real love of the game there with Troy. There’s a huge desire… even with training, he’s on the pitch first. He wants to get going straight away, doesn’t want training sessions to end at all.
“He has that brilliant exuberance and enthusiasm about the game. He always trains at a really good level. Every single time, he is always good in training and he always takes that style and desire he has out onto the field of play as well. For us at the U17s he was able to transfer what he was doing in training out into games, which is a good quality.”
