Some Spurs fans have been pleading with Fernando Llorente on Twitter to come back to Tottenham in order to help the club cope with the current injury crisis.
The former Spurs striker, who turns 35 years of age today, played a crucial role in the club’s Champions League run last season and really came good when Harry Kane was injured.
The striker joined Napoli last summer after his contract with Spurs ran out at the end of the season, but the Lilywhites failed to replace the Spaniard.
The club again failed to sign a striker in the January transfer window, and with Son Heung-min now joining Harry Kane on the treatment table, that has put Tottenham in a really precarious position.
Some fans felt that it was the club’s failure to replace Llorente last summer than has ended up costing them this season. Others insisted that the former Spurs star would have been a perfect fit for Jose Mourinho’s tactics.
Bring him home ☹️

Hypothetical: If Levy taps up Llorente, gets him to cancel his Napoli contract by mutual consent, then signs him as a Free Agent, is that allowed???

Should’ve signed him on for another year, one of the only out and out strikers that we’ve bought in recent years to make a great effect on the team

…and also the player we let go without replacing which is in danger of derailing our season ????????

Said it before & I’ll say it again..
Not replacing Llorente in the summer was in football terms..criminal
We ran Kane into the ground again. Now Son is crocked our season is crocked! Sure it’s bad luck but you have to plan for that.
Watch some fans blame Jose now ????????♂️#thfc

Can Llorente buy out his contract at Napoli ? And we can sign him as free agent ?

funny enough, llorente would be perfect for our counter attacking system. wins headers, decent hold up play, and on his day, could bag a couple goals. miss him so much???? https://t.co/ytbbs5Z6OA

Spurs Web Opinion
Llorente’s loss was felt even before Kane and Son got injured as we lacked a plan B in games where our approach wasn’t working. He was a great option to have on the bench and we made a massive blunder by failing to replace him in the summer. I believe Jose will definitely want to get in a similar type of target man in the summer.
