Former Liverpool and Chelsea defender, Glen Johnson, has questioned Tottenham Hotspur’s decision to have sold Kieran Trippier.
The 29-year-old left North London for Atletico Madrid in the summer for a relatively low fee of £20m (BBC).
Trippier was back in England last night when he was named in Diego Simone’s starting eleven for the Champions League second leg victory against Liverpool.
The former Spurs right-back was in impressive form at Anfield in helping to contain the threat posed by the likes of Mo Salah, Roberto Firminho and Sadio Mane.
Spurs decided not to bring in a replacement for Trippier following his departure. Kyle Walker-Peters started the first three Premier League matches of the season and has since joined Southampton on loan.
Following Jose Mourinho’s arrival in November, Serge Aurier has been installed as the club’s first-choice and only senior right-back.
“I don’t know how he weren’t in Tottenham’s plans in the first place.” ????
“It’s surprising they let him go and so cheaply.”
“It’s great business from Atletico.” ????@Glen_Johnson can’t understand why Tottenham sold Kieran Trippier last summer. ⚪️ pic.twitter.com/ADglE1gn4Q

Spurs Web Opinion:
The Ivorian continues to show that he’s a defensive liability and was once again at fault for RB Leipzig’s opening goal with his poor positioning. The fact that we have failed to replace Kyle Walker (with Trippier being competition for the shirt) says it all about Levy’s lack of ambition to spend.
