The new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium officially opened its doors a year ago today when Crystal Palace were the visitors to North London.
Since the official curtain raiser, a number of non-football events were scheduled to take place at the new stadium ranging from music concerts to a variety of sporting clashes.
The latest casuality to add to the list is the boxing heavyweight boxing bout between Anthony Joshua and Kubrat Pulev.
Joshua was set to headline the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, 20 June to defend his IBF, WBA, WBO and IBO world titles against the Bulgarian.
The fight was due to be Joshua’s first fight on UK soil in over two years with his promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing promising that they were working on a new date.
Hearn revealed that he is in discussions with Tottenham and hope to reschedule in either July or August if the coronavirus pandemic has eased by then.
“We’re speaking to Tottenham, we’ve postponed the 20th date,” Hearn told Sky Sports.
“We are working with them for dates in July and early August as well, when we hope we’ll be back.
“Hopefully we see that fight take place at the end of the summer.”
