Some Tottenham fans on social media believe that a move for Sami Khedira during the January transfer window could make sense for the North Londoners after the Juventus star seemingly issued a come-and-get-me plea to Jose Mourinho.
Khedira has fallen out of favour at Juve since the arrival of Andre Pirlo and admitted in an interview to Sky Sports last week that playing in the Premier League has always been a dream of his.
The 33-year-old, who worked with Mourinho at Real Madrid, also admitted that he would find it difficult to say no to an approach from the Tottenham boss.
Some Spurs fans on social media are not put off by the idea of signing Khedira as they believe that the midfielder could prove a useful stopgap until Oliver Skipp is ready to claim a starting birth in the team.
There were a few suggestions that the World Cup winner could be Tottenham’s version of James Milner, particularly given that the Lilywhites lack a natural defensive midfielder in the squad apart from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
However, others insisted that Khedira was well past his best and doubted whether he would be able to deal with the intensity of the Premier League.
even though he is 33 currently, if we could get him for cheap either in January, or in the summer, then I would be all for it, he could take the younger players like Skipp, under his wing plus he knows how to win titles, another bonus that could help us out

Perfect as a squad player. We don’t have many competent DMs https://t.co/K5Xs7ETUeF

I wouldn’t object to sticking him on a six month contract in Jan if players were sold. Experience winners could be key come May/June if we have a shot at trophies

On a free could be a James Milner esque player to come on and help see the game out

If it's a free is a no brainer, we only really have Hojbjerg who is competent at DM, if anything were to happen to him we are in trouble.

Not sure about this, no where near as good as he used to be and he would probably demand big wages. Probably better options out there. Maybe take him as back up if it doesn’t affect any other business https://t.co/XZHaPdoeLH

Let’s be honest, Khedira has never been good enough for most of the clubs he has passed throughout his career.
He shouldn’t even be an option to be considered for Spurs when we need to massively improve our midfield— Jay (@jstlooking1) November 19, 2020
Can’t even get a game in Italy, there’s no way he’s getting a game at Spurs.

no, ageing player that wants high wages and that’s been on the decline and has had injury problems. If we Sell dele we need to invest the money smarter.
