Gary Neville has claimed that Chelsea have a better chance of winning the Premier League title than Tottenham Hotspur do this season.
Tottenham currently sit at the top of the table, ahead on goal difference from second-placed Liverpool while Chelsea are two points behind the in third place.
While the title race has been a two-horse contest between Manchester City and Liverpool for the past couple of years, it looks like Spurs and Chelsea could be involved in it this time out.
The two sides could not be separated in the clash at Stamford Bridge a fortnight ago after they played out a 0-0 draw.
Jamie Carragher said on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football that the Blues could have the edge in the race for the title due to the strength and depth Frank Lampard has at his disposal.
Neville agreed with his fellow Sky Sports pundit, admitting that he had been impressed by how the Chelsea boss changed his approach from one game to another.
The former Manchester United defender said on The Gary Neville Podcast (as relayed by The Independent): “Chelsea are impressing me, they have a real chance [of winning the title].
“I think Chelsea have more of a chance [than Tottenham for the title]. They have Kante, they have Thiago Silva, players that could navigate them to it. There’s a winning culture, [Roman] Abramovich wins trophies. They have good players and players that can do the ugly side of the game. They’re a real threat.
“They won 4-0 in Seville and then ran Leeds off the pitch. They’re an adaptable team, a team that can take on what Lampard wants them to do.”
