Paul Coyte has taken to Twitter to reveal that he has been informed by Tottenham Hotspur just a matter of days before the Premier League opener against Manchester City that his services are no longer required.
I’ve found out that my work is now at an end at my beloved club. 16 years and cherished every moment. Made so many friends on and off the pitch. It was a dream come true. Get behind the team and Up the Spurs. Coytey X
— Paul Coyte (@Coytey) August 12, 2021
Coyte has worked as a match day compere for Tottenham at home fixtures for the past 16 years and was a popular voice for those in the stands at both White Hart Lane and the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
It is not yet known who will take over from Coyte, who can also be heard on talkSPORT 2’s breakfast radio show.
News of Coyte’s exit has not been well received by many of the North London faithful, who have sent their well wishes on social media.
Sorry to hear your news Coytey. You’ll always be the voice of Spurs.

Gutting this. No one can replace you, Paul. Proper Spurs!

We’ll never find another you Coytey. Your place in our club’s history is assured. #COYS

I’ve been going to spurs for basically 20 years, will be strange not having you about the place! Good luck with what you do next and up the Spurs.

Genuinely shocked by this – you've been absolutely superb Coytey and HT at the lane won't be the same without you

Really bad, and plain weird, news, Paul.

What the hell??? That's a very poor decision if it's not Paul's choice? @SpursOfficial

No no no no no. Spurs without you is not right. You are a essential member of the spurs family. This makes me sad.Thank you for introducing me to the staff & https://t.co/LOzj8VNSlB grateful to you Paul. Let’s go watch a game together this Christmas.

I know precisely what you’re feeling right now. Been there, done that -got the tee-shirt.

SpursWeb Opinion
It is a hugely disappointing decision for the club to have let Paul go, especially if the plan is to bring in a replacement purely to attract a younger audience with a social media focus.
