Harry Kane has now scored the second most number of away goals in Premier League history after netting in Tottenham’s 3-2 win over Newcastle on Sunday.
Kane has been on the receiving end of plenty of criticism for his lacklustre displays so far this season. Some pundits have put the England captain’s struggles down to a lack of motivation following his failed move to Manchester City in the summer.
However, the 28-year-old insisted last week that despite what was being said and written about him, he was in a good place mentally.
The striker walked the walk at St James’ Park yesterday as he put in his best display of the season so far, holding up the ball well and proving a nuisance for the Magpies backline throughout the 90 minutes.
He opened his account for the season with a lovely dinked finish over Karl Dallow midway into the first half to put the away side 2-1 up.
According to OptaJoe, the goal was Kane’s 88th away from home in the Premier League in 128 matches.
Wayne Rooney is now the only player to have scored more goals than Kane away from home in the Premier League, with the former Manchester United man’s tally standing at 94.
88 – Harry Kane has scored 88 goals in 128 away games in the Premier League, now the outright second-most of any player:
94 in 243 – Wayne Rooney
> 88 in 128 – Harry Kane <
87 in 219 – Alan Shearer
85 in 305 – Frank Lampard
83 in 206 – Andrew ColeRailcard. pic.twitter.com/jXu3wtWNo4

The fact that Kane has played only around half the games as some of the other players in the top five, shows how special his record is. The fact that he scores so many goals away from home is also a sign of his mental strength.
That is why I never doubted that the 28-year-old would come through his current poor run of form and prove his critics wrong yet again.
