‘Made the difference’ – Ex-pro admits he has been left surprised over Spurs summer signing
Former Udinese defender Alessandro Orlando has admitted that he has been left surprised that Destiny Udogie has managed to maintain his performance levels despite having sealed a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur.
The north Londoners confirmed the signing of the Italian Under-21 international in August in an initial £15m deal which also saw him remain with the Serie A outfit for the current campaign (Sky Sports).
Udogie has had an impressive start to the season having scored two goals and provided one assist in eleven matches in the Italian top flight prior to the campaign being put on ice for the World Cup in Qatar (transfermarkt).
Orlando revealed he had reservations about whether Udogie would continue to impress but has instead been complimentary about the 20-year-old.
He told Messaggero Veneto: “I wasn’t convinced that Udogie would maintain a high performance after signing for Tottenham and instead he simply made the difference.”

The former Fulham man has looked solid in some matches, but when his confidence dips is severely affects his performances. Ivan Perisic is in the twilight of his career and there is genuine potential for Udogie can come in and be a regular starter should he continue his current career trajectory.
