The Telegraph have reported that Tottenham are ready to make up to two new signings in the January transfer window in order to boost Antonio Conte’s squad.
It is said that the Lilywhites likely have a new defender and a creative player at the top of their wishlist for the winter window as they look to push on in the second half of the season.
This is a campaign unlike any other, due to the mid-season break courtesy of the World Cup in Qatar, with Tottenham’s squad being hit with injuries and fatigue.
As such, Spurs may feel as though they need to dip into the market to boost their depth and improve the quality of their starting XI. After all, making two signings in January proved decisive in 2022, with Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur setting the world alight since their arrival.
This comes after reports indicated that sources close to key Tottenham figures are now less confident about Conte signing a new contract (The Athletic), despite claims Spurs have offered him a £1 million-per-year pay rise (Telegraph).
Spurs Web Opinion:
Tottenham need at least two new signings to make meaningful progress this season. Conte will want to cement the top four position, close the gap a little on Man City from last year, and push for a trophy. In order to do that, he needs high-quality reinforcements.
