Tottenham Hotspur’s caretaker manager Cristian Stellini has been speaking to the press ahead of the weekend’s action, but was asked about the incident involving Harry Kane and Abdoulaye Doucoure from Monday night and had a stern reply.
Everton hosted Tottenham in the Monday night kick off, with both sides at opposite ends of the Premier League table.
Spurs were on the back foot for much of the game, until Everton midfielder Doucoure lashed out at Kane and received a straight red card for making contact with the Tottenham star’s face.
Kane dropped to the ground after being hit which has led to some criticism.
Tottenham took the lead ten minutes later, through a Harry Kane penalty.
The Lilywhites were later reduced to ten men themselves after Lucas Moura saw red for a rash challenge on Michael Keane, who would go on to score a late equaliser in the game.
Pundits across the game have spoken on the matter.
Danny Murphy told talkSPORT that Kane had ‘stitched up’ the Everton player, while Gary Neville told the Sky Sports Monday Night Football team (as relayed by The Daily Mail) that Kane did nothing wrong.
Now Stellini has had his say, and told Football.London: “I think it’s strange that some ex-players same something wrong about Harry.
“They are ex-players and they know the difference between seeing something in slow motion and living it in real motion.
“Also the Everton manager said it was a clear red card. Perhaps they respect Harry but they don’t respect Tottenham.”

For a start, Doucoure had to see red regardless of Harry Kane’s reaction.
Second of all, we have seen plenty of players hit the deck after far less dangerous challenges or incidents, and I think Kane is more than entitled to hold his face and go to ground after being grabbed like that.
