The Daily Mirror have claimed that Manchester United are now on red alert after Tottenham Hotspur informed Harry Kane that he will be sold this summer if he does not sign a new deal at the club.
On Sunday, The Daily Mail reported that Tottenham’s majority owner, Joe Lewis, told Daniel Levy that Kane would have to be sold this summer if he does not put pen to paper on a new contract.
This claim has now been backed up by The Mirror, who state that the same ultimatum has now been delivered to Tottenham’s star striker, informing him that he would have to leave if he is not prepared to commit his future to the club.

Manchester United alerted to Harry Kane’s contract situation at Spurs
The report adds that the latest twist has put United back on alert after the club had decided earlier in the summer to walk away from a deal for Kane.
It was explained that Tottenham had previously told the Red Devils that they would have to pay £110m for the England captain, which the Manchester club found unreasonable, given the player’s contract situation.
However, The Mirror revealed that United are now monitoring the 29-year-old’s situation once more in the hope that Lewis’ ultimatum to Levy over Kane’s contract could drive his price down.

It is understandable why Spurs would be keen to sell Kane if he is not willing to sign a new contract.
However, the striker now holds almost all of the power and the nightmare situation for Tottenham would be that he decides to dig his heels in and insist that he will only join Manchester United.
Thankfully, that does not seem likely to happen as the 29-year-old appears willing to make the switch to Bayern Munich instead.
