The Daily Mail have revealed that Chelsea would prefer to sell Conor Gallagher to West Ham United rather than Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.
The report explains that a new deal is not imminent for Gallagher at Stamford Bridge at the moment and unless there is a breakthrough in talks over the coming months, the Blues would be ready to listen to offers.
The outlet names Tottenham as one of Gallagher’s long-term admirers while West Ham has also allegedly shown interest in the player in the past.
Chelsea would rather sell Gallagher to West Ham than Spurs
It is explained that Chelsea’s asking price for the midfielder would be over £45m but they would rather do business with the Hammers rather than committing ‘treason’ by selling their academy graduate to Spurs.
The Mail explained that while the fee might not necessarily put off West Ham, they might not be able to meet the 23-year-old’s salary demands, which is expected to be around £150,000 per week.
The publication reveals that a well-placed source has ‘talked down the prospect’ of David Moyes’ side re-entering the race for Gallagher, with the race for the England international’s signature likely to be between Champions League clubs.
Spurs Web Opinion
This new Chelsea regime under Todd Boehly is a lot more opportunist and a lot less sentimental than the Roman Abramovich one. So, you would have to imagine they will likely be willing to do business with Spurs if the Lilywhites offer the best price for Gallagher.
