I’ve spent years penciling in my eyebrows – a simple change gave me so much confidence overnight, my tips to do it right

ONE beauty lover elevated her eyebrow look with one small change to her routine.

Her easy trick was certainly going to raise some eyebrows – in a good way.

One Reddit user with naturally light blonde hair and matching eyebrows was desperate to make her “nearly invisible” eyebrows look darker.

She explained how after constantly being “made fun of” by friends and even family members, her brows became a major “insecurity” for her.

“They didn’t show up in pictures and I’d even use an app to edit some in,” she said.

After using the same item for an extended period, she was ready to switch things up.

“I spent the last six years pencilling them in almost every day, panicking when the pencil ran out, and getting stressed when I messed them up in a rush,” she said.

After a friend recommended she inquire about options that would make the color on her brows last longer, she did some of her own research.

One solution seemed to be tinting, but with a cost of $45, she was determined to find another way to get the same results.

“I found a tutorial on how to DIY dye them for about $10,” she said.

Once she decided to go for it, she grabbed a box of Just for Men Beard touch-ups in blonde, Q-tips, and a brow brush.

She might have been intimidated by the process at first, but it didn’t take long for her to implement a few of her own techniques.

After using chapstick to “outline around the brow and prevent skin staining,” she poured the dying ingredients into a bowl.

It took less than seven minutes after washing everything off to see the dramatic difference.

“I had brows. They look natural and make me feel normal! I woke up this morning and didn’t have to pencil them in or worry about smudging them as I got ready,” she said.

“Every time I see them, I smile! In case anyone needs some encouragement, do it!” she added.

It was safe to say that her confidence was as noticeable as her brows.

She also shared additional tips.

If you are debating between two shades, “choose the lighter one,” she said.

After a few minutes, simply check the color after wiping off the dye.

“Like hair dye, the color will be most intense the first few days,” she said.

She also explained how she utilized the Q-tip after the dye was applied for “finer shaping.”

She even plucked a few extra hairs once she could see everything more clearly.

Beard dye is most ideal for use on facial features as it is “less intense” than using hair dye.

She explained how you simply mix product from the two resealable tubes together.

She used just a small amount of each for an even ratio before storing the rest for later use.

One more tip – don’t use this after getting newly waxed.

She also made clear that the color will fade a bit in the first few days following the initial dying.

If you desire a darker look, simply leave the dye on longer.

“I purposely kept mine a light color, just dark enough to give definition but keep the natural look. We can’t let the men know we dye our brows!” she said.

She was already encouraging others to try the trick.

“Oh boy do I feel you! My brows are insanely light and I’ve always hated it. I’ve never considered trying to dye them but now I’m thinking of giving it a shot,” said one user.

“Fellow blonde eyebrow owners rise up! Smart suggestion, I never thought about using the beard dye, but that’s brilliant!” wrote another Redditor.

Yet another user had their own suggestion.

“Been doing this for years! Vaseline works just as well as chapstick. A box should last you a year or more. Do not use on eyelashes!” they said.
