I’ve found my dream wedding dress but my mum thinks I’ll look fat in it – people are calling her a ‘butthead’
IT’S arguably the most important outfit decision you’ll ever make.
So choosing the perfect wedding dress can be a time-consuming, difficult process.
But one woman has explained that she found her “dream dress”, only for her mum to insist she would look “fat” in it.
She took to Reddit to share the situation, titling her post: “My mum thinks that my wedding dress will make me look fat”.
“I’ve already chosen my dream dress to be custom made, and it’s a simple satin ballgown with box pleats and a loose off shoulder,” she said.
“I have chubby arms and a large bust (34DDD), so my mum is insisting that this design will not look good on me and will make me look fat.
“I want to make sure that my mum likes the dress but it’s also my big day.
“It already took me so long to find this design which I love.”
The woman, who said she weighs 9st 9lbs and is 5ft 7 tall, added that as she’s having a destination wedding, she won’t actually get to try on her dress until she gets there.
“Any suggestions on any other designs that would look better suited for chubby arms/ large bust?” she asked.
“I am looking for modest/ slightly conservative dresses.”
However, people in the comments section were quick to reprimand her mum for saying that about her wedding dress.
“I just want to say that (respectfully) I hope your mum stops being a butthead,” one raged.
“You said it yourself, it’s your big day – you are going to be so beautiful in the dress you pick & you’ll be stunning as you get to marry the love of your life.
“Focus on you, your significant other, & all of the good memories you’ll get to make.
“Your mum is missing the point & I feel sorry for her.”
“Your dress will look stunning on you,” another insisted.
“The ball gown skirt with off shoulder detail will give you a classic hourglass silhouette.
“Your mum’s body commentary can go in the trash where it belongs.”
“Your mum sounds like she is projecting her insecurities on to you,” a third agreed.
