Hardy hopes Hackett will be back from hamstring trouble
Jake Hackett picked up a hamstring injury ahead of the 3-3 draw with Basford United
On Friday Whitby Town announced that midfielder, Jake Hackett had extended his loan until January 4th 2020.
Unfortunately, the Sunderland loanee was unable to feature in Saturday’s 3-3 draw with Basford United due to a hamstring issue.
However, Chris Hardy hopes that this is only a short-term injury and that he will have the 19-year-old back in action this week.
Hackett has been instrumental for the Seasiders since joining on an initial one-month’s loan deal from the Black Cats.
In his five appearances for the club so far he has managed to score three times, all from the penalty spot, whilst also assisting one goal in the 4-1 FA Trophy victory over Worksop Town.
“He’s just picked up a knock,” Hardy revealed.
“He’s got a little hamstring strain so he’ll be looked at over the next few days and hopefully we’ll have him back with the squad soon.
“We hope to have him back on Tuesday night, but failing that we believe he’ll definitely be back for next Saturday’s match.”
Analysing the overall performance at Greenwich Avenue, the manager was pleased to come away with a positive result after it looked like the Blues would come away empty handed following a late strike from the hosts.
However, Daniel Rowe’s stoppage time header ensured that the points would be shared in Nottingham but Hardy feels that his side could have had more on another day.
“The game had everything,” said Hardy.
“It was an end-to-end game with plenty of goals and they were good goals as well, particularly from ourselves.
“It’s pleasing that we’ve managed to come away with something from the game, especially with it being as late on as it was.”
Hardy also praised the character of his side after they managed to find a crucial goal with virtually the last kick of the game.
He felt that this has been a theme of his side so far this campaign, but it was certainly put to the test in a match where the Seasiders led twice.
“We’ve spoken about character and reactions in the past,” Hardy stated.
“We know that the lads have got a reaction in them and it’s testament to the boys that they’ve managed to find that last minute equaliser.
“I really do feel that we deserved something from the game as we defended from the front and we stifled what was a very fluent-flowing Basford side.
“There are a lot of positives to take from our point of view.”
