Not kidding: Watch Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey claim violent clashes against ICE are showing ‘LOVE’
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey says the violent confrontations taking place against federal ICE agents in his city are not just about resistance, but actually love.
Appearing Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” with Jonathan Karl, the Democrat Frey said: “I think it’s important to tell the whole country that this is not just about resistance here in Minneapolis, it’s about love.”
“We are showing something far more powerful and consequential here, which is love. We are standing up for one another. You’ve got neighbors helping neighbors. You’ve got people uniting and coming together in this beautiful way.
“And, obviously, we’ve got these threats out there from the federal government that were literally designed to intimidate Minneapolis residents, to intimidate me. But here’s the thing, we’re not going to be intimidated.”
It’s official.
Minneapolis is now in the middle of “The Winter of Love.”

The U.S. Justice Department reportedly launched an investigation into both Frey and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz this week, but Frey says he has not received any subpoena yet.
“If the rumors are true, this is deeply concerning because this is way more important than just me. This is a very serious matter,” he said. “And this whole investigation, it would ultimately be the product of one of the most basic foundational responsibilities that I have as mayor, which is to speak on behalf of my constituents.
“You know, there are other countries where you get put away for the things that you say. There are other countries where you get investigated for saying something that runs counter to what the federal government states. But in this country, it’s not that way. Here we have freedom of speech. And we do not negotiate those rights away.”
Frey also appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union,” telling anchor Jake Tapper that Minneapolis will become “calm” again as soon as federal agents leave.
“The second these ICE agents leave the city, I’m telling you, you’re gonna have calm in Minneapolis,” Frey said, “and you will continue to see the great comeback that we had been experiencing. Let us get back to that comeback. Let us live in peace. Let us have businesses that are open and daycares where you don’t need to escort staff to and from. Let us live in a place where, you know – I mean, look, in Minneapolis, we’ll stand up.

“If we have to sled down ice hills to get to a protest, we’ll do that. If we’ve got to make sure the people are escorted to the grocery store, you know, we’ll do that. But truthfully, we want to get back to a place where we can just love on our city, do our daily activities, just like any other town in America.”
The U.S. military has placed some 1,500 active-duty soldiers on standby for deployment to Minnesota should President Donald Trump invoke the Insurrection Act, which he has threatened if violent clashes continue between anti-ICE rioters and federal law enforcement.
