Planned Parenthood gives up demand for Medicaid money for abortions
Planned Parenthood, the American abortion industry’s elephant in the room, has dropped its demand that taxpayers give it Medicaid program money to do abortions.
That funding, which has given tens of millions of dollars to abortionists over recent years, was cut from the federal budget in President Donald Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill last year.
Since then, and until now, the abortionists had been in court demanding they get their paychecks from taxpayers.
The legal challenge was dismissed voluntarily, according to a report from the Washington Examiner, after the cuts targeted hundreds of Planned Parenthood business operations in 48 states.
The plan approved by Congress banned Medicaid funds from being used to reimburse abortion business operations.
Planned Parenthood, in a statement, claimed, “The goal of this lawsuit has always been to help Planned Parenthood patients get the care they deserve from their trusted provider. Based on the 1st Circuit’s decision, it is clear that this lawsuit is no longer the best way to accomplish that goal.”
A federal appeals court overturned a trial court’s decision to block the funding halt.
The abortion behemoth claimed about 50 of its locations have been forced to close since the restriction on federal cash handouts took effect.
Two other lawsuits have made similar claims, but one was sidelined by a ruling adopting the Trump administration’s perspective and another was voluntarily dismissed.
