‘Explosive’: Former U.S. Sen. Kyrsten Sinema admits sleeping with her married bodyguard in 5 U.S. cities before he left wife
In what’s being called an “explosive” court filing, former U.S. Sen. Kyrsten Sinema admits having sex numerous times with her own bodyguard, in an allegedly steamy, home-wrecking relationship that started while she was still in Congress.
The Associated Press reports: “Heather Ammel contends in a lawsuit that she and husband Matthew had ‘a good and loving marriage’ and ‘genuine love and affection’ existed between them before Sinema interfered, pursuing him despite knowing he was married.”
The lawsuit said the Ammels, who had been married for 14 years with three children, separated in November 2024.
In a signed declaration, Sinema acknowledged her relationship with Matthew Ammel “became romantic and intimate” at the end of May 2024 and “physically intimate” over the next several months in Sonoma, California, New York City, Washington, D.C., Aspen, Colorado, and Phoenix, Arizona.
According to court records, the duo were intimate at least six times before Matthew and Heather Ammel separated.
Fox News reports: “The complaint accused Sinema of engaging in ‘intentional and malicious interference’ in Ammel’s marriage and sought $25,000 in damages from Sinema as a result of allegedly ‘willful and wanton’ conduct.
“Neither the motion to dismiss, nor the sworn declaration Sinema submitted to the court, seeks to dispute the nature of her affair with Ammel – described as both ‘romantic and intimate.'”
Sinema says the case should be dismissed because the adulterous relationship occurred outside of North Carolina, and they were never “physically intimate” in the Tar Heel State, which allows jilted spouses to sue for “alienation of affection” and seek damages from third-party home-wreckers.
The relationship reportedly involved months of phone calls, emails, and Signal messages of “romantic and lascivious natures,” along with the physical relations.
“I keep waking up during my sleep and reaching over for your arms to hold me,” Sinema told Ammel in one Signal message, while she was in Scottsdale, Arizona, and he was in Kansas.
The lawsuit claims in summer 2024, Matthew Ammel stopped wearing his wedding ring, and Sinema employed him on her Senate staff while he continued to act as her bodyguard.
Fox News reports in autumn of that year, “another Signal exchange between the two was apparently interrupted by Ammel’s estranged wife. She allegedly responded to Sinema directly, stating: ‘Are you having an affair with my husband? You took a married man away from his family.'”
AP reports: “Sinema’s declaration rejects allegations by Heather Ammel that Sinema made phone calls and sent internet communications to her husband with the knowledge that he was physically present in North Carolina and at times with his wife and the couple’s children. Sinema did send Matthew Hamel a message while he was in North Carolina after he had already found a new place to live and ‘when the marriage was already over,’ Sinema attorney Steven Epstein wrote in asking the lawsuit be dismissed.
“Sinema’s ‘conduct related to her romantic relationship with Mr. Ammel does not connect her to North Carolina in a meaningful way,’ Epstein wrote Thursday, adding that no jury would believe that the one message ‘had any bearing on the destruction of marital love and affection.'”
