Djokovic Adds Ivanisevic To Coaching Team At Wimbledon

World No. 1 Novak Djokovic has added former World No. 2 Goran Ivanisevic to his coaching team at Wimbledon alongside Marian Vajda, the Serbian confirmed on social media Sunday evening.

"I am grateful to have Goran on my side of the net. We have agreed to collaborate at Wimbledon and hopefully many more in the future," Djokovic wrote. "I am thankful to Marian for supporting the idea to invite Goran and strengthen our team ahead of this important tournament."

In adding Ivanisevic to his team, Djokovic gains insight from a former Wimbledon champion. The Croat triumphed at The Championships as a wild card in 2001. The lefty reached the final at the grass-court Grand Slam in 1992, 1994 and 1998.

"I have grown up watching and supporting Goran. Niki Pilic allowed me to be Goran’s ball boy during his preparation in Niki’s academy for the famous Wimbledon trophy in 2001," Djokovic said. "That was a dream come true for a young tennis player who looked up to Goran. Now we get to join forces in the quest here in London."

Ivanisevic is the third Wimbledon titlist Djokovic has had in his corner during his career. The Serbian spent three years with Boris Becker and nearly a season with Andre Agassi. 

Ivanisevic's first practise with Djokovic came on Sunday, as the Croat was competing at the inaugural Svaneholm Open, an ATP Champions Tour event, in Sweden through Saturday.
