Cambridge hand fan 10-match ban for attending two away games during isolation period after testing positive for Covid
CAMBRIDGE UNITED have imposed a TEN-MATCH ban on a supporter who breached coronavirus rules to attend two away games.
The unnamed U’s supporter tested positive for Covid-19 earlier this month and was forced to self-isolate for ten days.
However, the fan ignored the rules to attend away games at Accrington Stanley and Plymouth – both in League One.
The north-west away-day was a staggering 400-mile round trip, with the Devon adventure even further at 600 miles all-in.
Cambridge have now banned the supporter in question from the next ten home and away games for his selfish and potentially dangerous behaviour.
The fan is claimed to have tested negative for Covid following the Plymouth game on August 17, with the Accrington match just three days earlier.
But all supporters who sat in the same stand have been contacted so they are made aware.
Cambridge are dealing with the matter internally and have not yet got the police involved.

The club claim they are taking each instance of Covid rule breaches seriously and dealing with them on a case-by-case basis.
A United statement read: “Cambridge United can confirm that a supporter has been sanctioned for breaching COVID-19 regulations…
“The breach relates to the away matches at Accrington Stanley and Plymouth Argyle and the supporter in question has been banned from attending the next ten Cambridge United home and away matches.
“Each Covid-19 breach will be handled on a case-by-case basis and the club reaffirms its commitment to providing safe environments for its supporters.
“Supporters are also reminded of their responsibility to protect themselves and each other whilst the threat of Covid-19 continues to exist.”
