Harry Kane steps up return to Tottenham starting XI as wantaway striker is spotted back in first-team training
HARRY KANE is edging closer to a return to Tottenham’s starting XI as his transfer saga rumbles on.
The striker is wanted by Manchester City after telling Spurs he wants to leave to win trophies.
But chairman Daniel Levy is playing hard ball and is believed to want more than £150million for the England captain.
Kane extended his post Euro 2020 break with trips to the Bahamas and Florida.
It meant he missed the opening-day 1-0 win against his would-be employers Manchester City.
He was also left out of Spurs’ disastrous 1-0 defeat to Pacos de Ferreira in their first-ever Europa Conference League game.
But the 28 year old came off the bench on Sunday as Nuno Espirito Santo made it two Premier League wins out of two against his old club Wolves.
Now Kane will be hoping to get the nod to start Tottenham’s home clash against Watford on Sunday as he stepped up his training with the first-team squad today.

And he could even be called on to help rescue the Londoners in their Conference League second leg against Pacos on Thursday.
The England captain remains convinced he had a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ with Spurs chief Levy that he could leave this summer.
But the club is deadlocked with Manchester City over Kane’s potential £160million move.
Spurs boss Nuno was delighted with the warm reception the homegrown hero got from fans on his first appearance of the season.
The Portuguese boss added: “I was pleased with the attitude of the fans.
“We have to be together. We have amazing fans and have to be thankful for that.
“He (Kane) is better today and he’ll be better tomorrow. He can still improve, we cannot put a bar on that.”
