The Lions' radio broadcast was stunned as Justin Tucker made his 66-yard, game-winning field goal
The Detroit Lions have found some truly astonishing ways to lose over the years, and Sunday’s Week 3 matchup with the Baltimore Ravens was no exception.
They managed to lose in a way that no other team had lost before … to a 66-yard field goal.
With three seconds to go in the game and Detroit up a point, the Ravens had no choice but to send star kicker Justin Tucker out to attempt a kick from a record 66 yards. And every Lions fan knew exactly how that was going to end.
Tucker’s kick sent the Ford Field crowd on a cruel, emotional roller coaster as the ball bounced off the crossbar, hung in the air and went through. Miller, handling the moment exceedingly better than the Vikings crew did last week, said:
“It is off the crossbar … AND…. through! Oh my goodness, are you kidding me? Justin Tucker from 66, hit the crossbar, and it bounced through. And the Ravens are celebrating on the field. The longest field goal in the history of the NFL has just beaten the Detroit Lions.”
Yeah, that one is going to hurt.
