With Lamar Jackson sidelined again, uncertainty at quarterback continues for Ravens

The Ravens seem to be moving closer to ending the regular season against the Cincinnati Bengals with little certainty about the identity of their starting quarterback.

Usual starter Lamar Jackson was missing again from the portion of Friday’s practice open to the media. Jackson sat out his 14th straight practice Thursday after injuring in his left knee in the first quarter of a 10-9 win against the Denver Broncos on Dec. 4.

Although Tyler Huntley and Anthony Brown were both present Friday, Huntley did not attempt any passes. His lack of activity was a repeat of Thursday’s session, and he was limited by injuries to his right wrist and right throwing shoulder on Wednesday and Thursday.

If Huntley — who has made four consecutive starts in Jackson’s absence — can’t go, Brown, an undrafted rookie, would make his first career start.

While the Ravens can’t overtake Cincinnati for the AFC North title, Sunday’s game looms in importance. A win would help the Ravens complete a season sweep of the Bengals and put the site of a potential first-round playoff game in Baltimore or Cincinnati to a coin flip.

Brown completed all three of his passes for 16 yards against one sack to finish a 16-14 win at the Pittsburgh Steelers on Dec. 11. On Thursday, offensive coordinator Greg Roman expressed his confidence in relying on the rookie, saying, “He’s buckling down for any opportunity that comes his way.”

Cornerback Brandon Stephens was missing from Friday’s practice after participating Thursday and Friday without showing up on the team’s injury report. Cornerback Kevon Seymour (finger), who upgraded to full participation Thursday after being limited Wednesday, was also absent.

Wide receiver DeSean Jackson was missing for the third straight day because of an illness.

A trio of starters in defensive tackle Calais Campbell (knee), outside linebacker Jason Pierre-Paul and left tackle Ronnie Stanley were absent, but they have been given Fridays off in the past. Campbell, who has been battling a knee ailment that sidelined him for the past two games, practiced fully Thursday.

Cornerback Marcus Peters was active again. Peters, who has missed the Ravens’ past two games due to a calf injury, was limited Wednesday and Thursday.
