5 sleepers to win the 2023 RBC Heritage
The RBC Heritage is no longer the PGA Tour stop where bettors can bank on a long-shots to stun the field. Starting in 2023, the annual trip to Habour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head, South Carolina is a designated event — meaning the top names on Tour have committed to playing and the purse has been elevated to $20 million.
It makes a ton of sense for the PGA to try capitalizing on all of the Masters buzz with a tournament that begins four days after the green jacket is handed out. It also means the days of Masters champions skipping the RBC are gone.
Jon Rahm is in the field at Hilton Head. So are Scottie Scheffler, Patrick Cantlay, Collin Morikawa and Jordan Spieth. All should be exhausted after a mentally draining week in Augusta, so it remains to be seen how elevating the RBC Heritage impacts their play. Just having them in the field, however, changes everything. Check out the odds the most recent RBC winners had going into the tournament:

In previous years, Masters champions who did decide to play the RBC Heritage historically found trouble cracking the Top 10.
That doesn’t mean there aren’t any good sleeper picks this week. There’s value all over the board, in fact. It just means it’s time to get a little pickier with long-shot bets.
