Inter explore move for unhappy Cancelo, Barça and Juventus also had contacts
Multiple sources claim that Inter have explored a move for Al-Hilal full-back Joao Cancelo, who is expected to leave Simone Inzaghi’s team in the January window.
Inter are eager to bring back Cancelo to San Siro, according to Gazzetta dello Sport and Fabrizio Romano.
Inter explore move for Cancelo’s return
According to Romano, Inter have asked for deal conditions and the structure of a possible deal, but Juventus and Barcelona have also made contact with Al-Hilal in recent days.
Cancelo is expected to leave the Saudi Pro League giants next month as he’s no longer on good terms with Inzaghi, a former Inter coach.
Cancelo must take pay cut to join Inter, Juve or Barcelona
Gazzetta, however, highlights that the Portuguese’s high salary, €15m per season, is a considerable obstacle in negotiations, so Cancelo would need to take a substantial pay cut to return to Italy.
Cancelo already played at the Stadio Meazza in the 2017-18 season. In the following campaign, he played for Juventus before joining Manchester City in the summer of 2019.
