Coppa Italia: Roma vs. Torino – Confirmed line-ups
Leon Bailey is called in to start for Roma for just the second time as Gian Piero Gasperini names a heavily-rotated side to take on Torino in the Coppa Italia round of 16 on Tuesday evening.
This is Roma’s first outing in the cup this term, while Torino have already beaten Modena and Pisa, both by a 1-0 scoreline, in order to qualify for the round of 16.
In terms of recent form, Roma have won three of their last five in Serie A, most recently picking up victories against Sassuolo, Lecce and Genoa, but falling to defeats against Juventus and Atalanta over the last few weeks.
Torino have won two and lost three of their last five, picking up wins against Hellas Verona and Sassuolo, but falling short against Cagliari, Udinese and Atalanta.
Gasperini has made several changes for this midweek cup tie: Gianluca Mancin and Mario Hermoso are both rested in defence and are replaced by Jan Ziolkowski and Zeki Celik. Daniele Ghilardi keeps his place in the back three with Evan Ndicka away on AFCON duty.
There is no Manu Kone in midfield, who is replaced by Bryan Cristante, who partners Nicolo Pisilli in the centre of the park. Wesley returns in place of Kostas Tsimikas at wing-back.
Evan Ferguson and Artem Dovbyk are both ruled out through injury and Paulo Dybala is rested, which means that an unusual combination of Matias Soule, Stephan El Shaarawy and Leon Bailey starting in attack for the Giallorossi.
Torino have made slightly fewer alterations to their starting line-up. The headline news is that Giovanni Simeone and Che Adams have both returned to the Granata attack, replacing Duvan Zapata and Cyril Ngonge.
Kick-off is due at 20.00 GMT.
