Fans spot Slot’s reaction to Chiesa’s goal for Liverpool: ‘He seemed furious’
Arne Slot praised Federico Chiesa after Liverpool’s 6-0 win over Qarabag, but some fans argued that the Dutch coach didn’t seem pleased when the Italian winger scored his third-season goal.
Italy international Chiesa scored a goal in Liverpool’s 6-0 Champions League win over Qarabag on Wednesday despite only being introduced as a substitute at minute 74.
Chiesa has now scored three goals in 23 appearances across all competitions, two in the Premier League and one in the Champions League.
What Slot said about Chiesa after Liverpool 6-0 Qarabag
Slot was happy with the Italian’s contribution and mentioned him during a post-match press conference, as quoted by Liverpool’s website: “We hardly gave away a chance and in the 92nd minute you could see, when they had maybe their first and only counter-attack of the second half, how much effort we put in to sprint back – Federico Chiesa, my No.9, was defending inside the six-yard box. I’ve said recently, if we can improve in both boxes, it’s going to be very hard for any team to play against us. But showing that once is not enough – we have to show this from now on, constantly.”
Several Liverpool fans on social media, however, still feel Chiesa isn’t exactly one of Slot’s favourites, especially after seeing the Dutch coach’s reaction to the Italian’s goal last night.
X social media is filled with messages from the Reds’ supporters who shared pictures and videos of Slot’s reaction seconds after Chiesa’s strike.
One argued that “Slot seemed furious that Chiesa scored!” while another one said the Dutchman was “absolutely appalled by Chiesa” and joked that the Italian’s “field time is about to be reduced to the post-match victory lap.”
