Ukraine commemorates heroes of Heavenly Hundred
Common Ukrainians pay tribute to their fallen compatriots, who gave their lives during the Revolution of Dignity in early 2014. It was on February 20th, when government-hired shooters killed over 80 people at Instytutska street in the downtown Kyiv.
About a thousand unarmed protesters received injuries in brutal fights with the riot police; dozens more gone missing. The deceased citizens are now collectively known as the Heavenly Hundred.
A memorial service was held at Mykhailivsky Golden-Domed Monastery in Kyiv on Tuesday. It was this particular shrine that opened its doors to the wounded during these scary days.
