Huge explosions rocked the Syrian capital last night as the Syrian Army resumed intensified shelling and airstrikes against jihadi positions and headquarters in the last insurgent pocket of Douma. According to a military source, the SAA troops were capable of overrunning the Islamist militiamen in al-Riyhan town - located east of Douma city - and fully securing the area. "The road linking Ibn Sina Hospital to Douma has been also entirely under our control", the source added. This specific advance - along with rebels' loss of territories in the western and southern axes - has forced the Saudi-backed group to request an immediate ceasefire and resumption of talks with the Syrian government via Russian mediators. Having lost its most fortified defense lines in less than 24 hours of battles, Jaysh al-Islam; the largest jihadi group in the whole East Ghouta enclave, does realize that their chances to withstand the Army's assault equal zero.
