The SS Richard Montgomery is a WW2 Liberty Ship that was wrecked on a sandbank in the Thames Estuary 1 mile north of Sheerness . She is loaded with 1500 tonnes of High Explosive and has remained untouched for 70 years because any attempt to remove the bombs is deemed to be too dangerous. As you can see from this clip she is right on the edge of the two busy shipping channels which serve London and the Medway .
