American Airlines passenger claims Cops came because I am Fat and Black

An American Airlines passenger Amber Philips, 28 claims the cops were called on her for traveling while "fat and black."
Phillips claimed she was in the window seat on a plane to Washington, DC, when the female passenger next to her insisted she move over since their arms were touching.

Phillips said she told the woman, "No, I actually can't. I'm in the window seat."

The seatmate, however, reportedly continued to make it known that she was frustrated throughout the 60-minute flight.

"The passenger next to me, a white woman, made it clear with her body language that I was bothering her,"

The seatmate, however, reportedly continued to make it known that she was frustrated throughout the 60-minute flight.

"The passenger next to me, a white woman, made it clear with her body language that I was bothering her," Phillips told Yahoo News. "She was aggressive when flipping her hair with her hand and fastening her seatbelt - and she was bullying me."

Phillips was afraid to complain but said the woman kept moving her foot closer to her.

"I said, 'you're being awful, don't let the bottom of your foot touch me,'" Phillips, who took photos and videos of the passenger, told the Washington Post.

When the plane landed, the woman reportedly told the flight attendant that Phillips was harassing her. As the flight deplaned and passengers boarded a shuttle to a gate, police became involved.

"While I'm on the shuttle, this woman LIED that I assaulted her and the @AmericanAir flight attendant called the cops to remove me from the shuttle bus," Phillips said in a tweet.

The officer reportedly told Phillips they were called for an assault investigation and asked both women a few questions.

"All of this because my arm was touching this woman," Phillips told the Washington Post.

They were both allowed to leave once police determined there was no wrongdoing.

American Airlines released a statement regarding the Thursday incident.

"Two passengers seated next to each other engaged in a verbal altercation while on board," the statement said. "Upon landing in DCA shortly after 8 p.m. ET, one of the passengers requested the flight attendant contact law enforcement."
