2021 Ford Bronco Sport Specifications and Trims (Apparently) Revealed!

As we await the arrival of the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport, the 2021 Bronco‘s smaller sibling informally referred to as “baby Bronco,” a forum entry may have revealed some important specs. A user on BroncoSportForum.com posted photos of what appears to be Ford’s dealer ordering guide showing the Bronco Sport’s trims, packages, and engine and transmission options. It’s not the first forum drop of critical images or information about the new Bronco SUVs, nor do we expect it to be the last.

Paint Colors, Trim Levels, Oh My!

If the pictures posted to BroncoSportforum.com are indeed representative of the Bronco Sport’s ordering system, there will be five trim levels, most of them with outdoor-themed names. Those include Base, Big Bend, Outer Banks, Badlands, and First Edition, the latter of which we assume is an early limited-edition model that will only be available for a short time after the Bronco Sport goes on sale.

The color options listed are more intriguing. How do you like the sound of  Cyber Orange Metallic TC, Rapid Red Metallic TC, and Kodiak Brown? Other colors include Alto Blue Metallic TC, Area 51, Cactus Gray, Carbonized Gray, Iconic Silver, Oxford White, and Shadow Black. Buyers can also choose between two roof colors, black and gray, although it isn’t clear whether or not the baseline is body-color.

What Options and Specifications Can We Expect?

A leather-wrapped steering wheel, 17-inch wheel options, orange cloth seats, and Ebony leather-trimmed seats are among the many available features you can select. But the most interesting one is something called “Roof Conversion – Low Opening.” Is this a removable roof of some sort? We can’t be sure, but we are interested.

An eight-speed automatic transmission is on the docket, according to the ordering guide, as well as 1.5-liter and 2.0-liter EcoBoost engines. (Looks like, perhaps, a manual transmission option will be limited to the larger Bronco—sad!) As we previously reported, the Bronco Sport’s engines likely mimic what’s available in the Escape, from a 180-hp 1.5-liter inline-three to a 250-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder. A 2.5-liter four-cylinder could be used for conventional gas-electric hybrid and plug-in hybrid models (Ford has committed to offering hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions of every SUV it sells).

Will all of this leaked information prove to be true? We’ll need to wait until at least April to find out—that’s when Ford had originally planned on revealing the Bronco Sport, following its debut of the larger Bronco this month. With large reveals and product launches being pushed back or canceled outright over current events, it could be awhile before we get all our baby Bronco questions answered.
